Dr. Patiño González’s practice is exclusively limited to conducting developmental, psychoeducational, and personality evaluations of children and adults.
Dr. Guellati-Salcedo provides psychoeducational testing to school-age children and adults and specializes in evaluations specifically geared to fulfill advanced requirements of graduate level requests for accommodations for standardized testing (e.g., GRE, MCAT, LSAT, etc.). She also provides individual psychotherapy to adults.
Dr. Cassel provides developmental testing to preschool children and psychoeducational evaluations to school-age children and adults. She also provides individual therapy for children and family therapy.
Our Assessment services include:
Developmental assessments (age two through preschool)
A developmental assessment measures the acquisition of developmental milestones, which are motor, speech and language, cognitive, social, and emotional skills that are expected at certain ages. At times, the child may be observed at school. A developmental assessment aims at the early detection of developmental disorders, including attentional disorders, cognitive delays, language delays, and/or autism spectrum disorders.
Psychoeducational evaluations (kindergarten to adults)
The purpose of a psychoeducational evaluation is to uncover the student’s profile of abilities and determine how it affects her/his learning. A comprehensive psychoeducational evaluation includes background information, behavioral observations, direct testing of cognitive processes, academic, socio-emotional functioning, and information from parents and teachers. All the information is then integrated into diagnostic conclusions, and recommendations follow from these conclusions.
Gifted testing is an evaluation conducted for the sole purpose of determining eligibility for gifted placement in a public, or at times private, school. It includes a School Board-approved measure of intelligence, which provides an IQ score.
Personality Assessment (children and adults)
Personality tests are used to describe a person’s character or stable traits and how they affect his/her functioning. A measure of intellectual functioning is always included. In addition, it may be necessary to include measures of social functioning. Personality testing includes two distinct types of measures:
- Objective tests
- Projective tests
Personality testing is usually requested by a treating psychiatrist or psychologist in order to investigate whether therapy issues are related to the person’s personality.
